סֵירוּג, (סָרג) plaiting, strapping. Y. M. Kat. I, 80ᵈ bot. (expl. מסרגין, ib. I, 8) ס׳ שתי וערב strapping a bedstead means length- and breadthwise; (anoth. opin.) ס׳ או שתי או ערב strapping means either lengthwise &c. Bab. M. Kat. 27ᵃ סֵירוּגוֹ מתוכו has the strapping inside (through slits in the frame); סֵירוּגָהּ על גבה the strapping over the frame.—Pl. סֵירוּגִים, סֵירוּגִין, סֵר׳ (adv., with or without prepos.) strapwise, in intervals, with interruption. Meg. II, 2 קראה ס׳ if one read the M’gillah in intervals (pausing between passages). Tosef. R. Hash. IV (II), 9 אפי׳ בס׳ וכ׳ (ed. Zuck. בסיריגין, corr. acc.) even if one heard the notes of the Shofar at intervals extending even over the entire day. Y. Meg. II, beg. 73ᵃ ס׳ קיטועין serugin means in sections. Ib.
