נָגוֹד, (נָגַד) leader. Sifra Aḥăré, ch. XII, Par. 9 (ref. to Lev. XVIII, 4) לא המשנה נ׳ וכ׳ (Rabad: נָגִיד) not the teaching is the guide, but the practice (precedent, v. מעשה רב, s. v. מַעֲשֶׂה).
