מָרֵישׁ מָרֵישׁ, (contr. of מארש, v. אָרַס; cmp. Targ. of מורשי, Job XVII, 11: לוחי) joist, beam (cmp. כְּשׁוּרָא). Gitt. V, 5 המ׳ הגזול וכ׳ an illegally taken joist which was placed in a group of buildings. B. Kam. 66ᵇ (ref. to Gitt. l. c.) והרי מ׳ כשורא וכ׳ here is the case of the maresh (where the stolen object changed its name), before it was placed it was named כשורא, and now it is טללא (ceiling); a. fr.—Pl. מָרֵישׁוֹת. Ib. 67ᵃ, v. עוֹב. Y. B. Bath. I, beg. 12ᵈ תיפתר ע׳'י מָרֵישָׁיו it means (a protection) by means of its timber (roofing). ערכים סמוכים
