כָּבֵד II m. (preced. wds.) 1) weight, pressure. Ḥag. 21ᵃ כְּבֵידוֹ של כלי the pressure of the (inner) vessel. Snh. 63ᵇ; Meg. 25ᵇ (sarcasm on כבודו, Hos. X, 5) א"ת כְּבוֹדוֹ אלא כְּבֵידוֹ (Ms. M. כּוֹבְדוֹ) read not ‘his dignity’ but ‘his weight’ for it is gone, i.e. the idol’s weight is reduced; Yalk. Is. 326 כְּבֵדוֹ. —2) importance, v. כָּבוֹד.
