  1. חוֹמֶשׁ, one fifth, esp. one fifth of the value to be added as fine on restoring misappropriated property or redeeming dedicated property (Lev. V, 16; 24; XXVII, 27). B. Kam. IX, 6. B. Mets. 54ᵃ חוֹמְשׁוֹ של קרן the fifth part of the principal (assessed value), i.e. one plus one fifth, v. next w.; a. fr.
