חֲבָטָא, ch.same, also stroke, blow. Ḥull. 8ᵃ ח׳ קדים וכ׳ does the effect of the blow come first (and create an inflammation, שחין), and the effect of the heat follows (creating a burn, מכוה) &c.?—B. Mets. 116ᵇ אי בחבסא נפל אי בה׳ נפל whether the building fell through pressure (in which case the lower portion of the materials would be more affected), or through a shock.—Gen. R. to I, 1 רבתי (חד כות׳ 2) בשעת ח׳ in the season of beating; ib. חבטה (corr. acc.).—Pl. חֲבָטַיָּא olives ready for beating. Y. Maas. Sh. IV, 55ᵇ bot. [read:] ההוא הוה בנציא ואת בח׳ that one (dreamt of olives) in the blooming stage, but thou of olives ripe for beating.
