חַבּוּרָה חַבּוּרָה, a mark of violence, wound, discoloring. B. Kam. VIII, 1 מקום שאינו עושה ח׳ a spot on which no wound is made by burning (e.g. on the nail). Snh. XI, 1 (85ᵇ) עד שיעשה בהן ח׳ unless by striking them he creates a wound; Y. ib. XI, beg. 30ᵃ באיזו ח׳ כחַבּוּרַת שבת כח׳ נזקין what wound is meant here? One the creating of which would be a Sabbath offence (discoloring), or one of the kind required for claiming damages?; Mekh. Mishp., N’zikin, s. 5 מכה שיש בה ח׳ (in order to be punishable with death) it must be a beating which makes a wound (or a sore). Sabb. 107ᵇ ח׳ שאינה חוזרת a permanent discoloring, Ib. מניין לח׳ שאינה וכ׳ whence is it proven that by ḥabburah a permanent (not a momentary) discoloring is meant?— Keth. 3ᵇ עושה ח׳ he makes a wound (by tearing the hymen).
