זִיּוּן m. (זוּן) 1) putting on armour, going to war. Num. R. s. 14 (p. 257ᵃ ed. Amst.) (ref. to נשק, Ps. CXL, 8) כיום זִיּוּנָם של וכ׳ on the day when the thirty and one kings went to war against Joshua. —2) the decoration of letters with crownlets.—Pl. זִיּוּנִין. Men. 29ᵇ seven letters (in the Torah-scrolls) require שלשה ז׳ each three crownlets (flourishes).
