וִידּוּי, (יָדָה) confession of sin, prayer for pardon. Tosef. Yoma V (VI), 14; Yoma 87ᵇ מצות ו׳ ערב וכ׳ the proper time for confession (on the entrance of the Day of Atonement) is &c. Ib. וחותם בו׳ and closes the benediction with an allusion to confession (forgiveness). Y. ib. VI, 43ᶜ הו׳ מעכב the confession (by the Highpriest, Lev.
