דִּיסְתָּנָא ² דִּיסְתָּנָא ², (dial. דִּשְׁתָּנָא) f. (Difel, v. דְּ־, denom. of וֶסְתָּא) a menstruous woman. Taan. 22ᵃ דיס׳ ed. (Ms. M. דיש׳). Sabb. 110ᵃ דיס׳ Ms. O. (ed. דיש׳, Ms. M. דש׳). Ab. Zar. 18ᵃ דש׳. Ib. 24ᵇ כמאן קרו פרסאי לנרה דש׳ (Ms. M. אמרי for קרי) on what authority do the Persians call a menstruous woman dishtana (for the usual distana)? Answ. (ref. to Gen. XXXI, 35 as if fr. דוש, cmp. דַּוְושָׁא, having the course of women). [פרסאי does not necessarily refer to the Persian language, as evidenced by the preceding דְּבִיר.
