גַּרגּוּתָא, (= גלגליתא, v. גַּלְגְּלָא, cmp. גַּרְגַּר) wheel-work, well for irrigating fields. Ber. 58ᵃ; B. Bath. 91ᵇ (prov.) אפי׳ ריש ג׳ וכ׳ (Ber. ed. גרגי׳, Ms. M. גדגיד׳, corr. acc., v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.) even a superintendent of the well (cmp. בַּיָּיר) is appointed in heaven. B. Kam. 27ᵇ. B. Mets. 103ᵃ if one says, ‘Lend me ההיא ג׳ the use of this well’, he may restore &c.; בי ג׳ ‘a place (in the field) for a well’,—he may go on digging wells until he strikes one that suits him. B.
