בָּלַם II, (v. preced.; cmp. Syr. בלמא halter) to attempt to get rid of the halter; to kick, strike (of an unruly horse). Pesik. Zakh. p. 24ᵇ (ref. to Ps. XXXII, 9) thou puttest a bit on him והוא בוֹלֵם and he strikes. Ib. קריב לגביה והוא ב׳ (strike out לא, as Tanḥ. ed. Bub. Ki Thetse, 6 a. Yalk. Ps. 719) you come near him and he strikes; Tanḥ. Ki Thetse, 6; Yalk. Deut. 938, Ps. l. c. (with var. vers.).
