אֲקַן, (deriv. of קני) to grow in stalks, produce stalks Gitt. 30ᵃ לא צריכא דאָקוּן (Var. דהדר ואקון) in the case before us it means that the seeds which had been despaired off produced stalks (blades) again מהו דתימא אֲקַנְתָּא מילתא וכ׳ when you might think this shooting up is something (enough to awaken new hopes of recovery), therefore &c.; Taan. 19ᵃ.—Denom. אֲקַנְתָּא growth of stalks; v. supra.
