Kat. 16ᵃ מנלן דמְשַׁמְּתִינָן whence do we derive the authority to excommunicate (persons refusing to obey the summons of the court)? Ib.; Shebu. 36ᵃ שַׁמְּתֵיה וכ׳, v. שִׁיפוֹרָא. M. Kat. l. c. הנהו בי תלתא דמְשַׁמְּתֵי לא אתו וכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. דשַׁמִּיתוּ) when a court of three has declared a ban, another court of three cannot raise it.
