שֵׁיצָא, prickly twig; stony date.— Pl. שֵׁיצֵי. M. Kat. 25ᵇ bot. טעון דיקלי ש׳ the palms bore stony dates (Rashi: thorns).
שֵׁיצָא, fin of a whale &c. B. Bath. 73ᵇ וסגאי … בין ש׳ לש׳ וכ׳ and the ship went between one fin of the fish and the other for three days, itself swimming upwards (against the wind), and we floating downwards.—Pl. as ab. Ib. ההיא גילדנא … תרי ש׳ Ms. R. a. ed. L (ed. שַׁיְיצֵי) that was a sea gildana (v. גִּלְדָּנָא), which has two fins (on each side).
