  1. שִׁדְרָה, (v. שְׁדַר II) [twisted cord,]
  2. שִׁדְרָה, spinal column. Ḥull. III, 2 נשברה הש׳ ולא וכ׳ if the spinal column is broken, but its cord is not severed. Ib. 1. Gen. R. s. 28, beg., a. e. לוז של ש׳, v. לוּז II. Sabb. 147ᵇ חומרי ש׳ Rashi (ed. שדרא) the knots of the spine(vertebræ). Ohol. I, 8, v. חוּלְיָא I; a. fr.—B. Kam. 16ᵃ שִׁדְרוֹ של אדם a man’s spine. Ber. 55ᵃ; Sabb. 81ᵃ שדרו של דג the back-bone of a fish.—Pl. שִׁדְרָאוֹת. Nidd. 24ᵃ; Bekh. VII, 2; Ḥull. 60ᵇ, v. גַּב.
  3. שִׁדְרָה, stem, rib of a plant. Lev. R. s. 30 הש׳ של לולב דומה לש׳ וכ׳ the rib of the palm-branch resembles the spinal column of man. ‘Ukts. I, 2 הש׳ של שבולת the stem of an ear (of wheat). Ḥull. 119ᵇ בש׳ it refers to the stem of an ear of wheat, v. שֹׁומֵר; a. fr.—V. שִׁזְרָה.
