קְרֵיבָה קְרֵיבָה, (קָרַב) coming near, use of the root קָרַב. Gen. R. s. 96 (ref. to Gen. XLVII, 29) כל מי שנ׳ בו ק׳ למות וכ׳ he of whom the expression ‘come near to die’ is used, has not reached the age of his fathers; דוד כתיב בו ק׳ וכ׳ of David the expression קרב is used (I Kings II, 1) &c.; Yalk. Kings 168. Snh. 3ᵇ (ref. to Ex. XXII, 7 ונקרב) משעת ק׳ שלשה from the time of the approach (before court) there must be three judges. Gen. R. s. 71 בזה ק׳ ובזה ק׳ coming near is mentioned in connection with the tribe of Judah (Ps. LXV, 5) and with the priestly tribe (Ex. XXVIII, . Y. Snh. VII, 25ᵃ מכיון דכתיב ק׳ ק׳ וכ׳ since with regard to illicit connections the word קרב is used &c. Sabb. 104ᵇ מחוסר ק׳, מחוסר מעשה דק׳ it lacks being brought together (joined into one word); a. fr.—Y. Hor. II, 46ᵈ ק׳ פרישה the root קרב may also mean separation (coming near one’s self, ref. to Is. LXV, 5).—Pl. קְרֵיבוֹת. Pes. 118ᵇ (ref. to Ps. LXVIII, 31) מי גרם … ק׳ שהיו חפצין בהן what caused the dispersion of Israel among the nations? The approaches (to the nations) which they desired; Yalk. Ps. 800 קְרֵבוֹת (or קְרָבוֹת). Y. Ber.
