צִחְצֵחַ I (v. צחח) 1) to polish, furbish; to clarify, make clear. B. Mets. 84ᵃ משיְצַחְצְחָן במים arms are considered finished, when the smith has furbished (steeled) them by putting them in cold water. R. Hash. 33ᵃ מים … כדי לצַחְצְחוֹ you may pour water or wine into the Shofar to make its sound clear. Nidd. 25ᵇ מְצַחְצְחוֹ, v. טָרַד.—Part. pass. מְצוּחְצָח; f. מְצוּחְצֶחֶת; pl. מְצוּחְצָהִין; מְצוּחְצָחוֹת. Lev. R. s. 1, v. אִסְפַּקְלַרְיָא. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVIII, v. צִחְצוּחַ. —2) to become or be clear. Y. Nidd. II, 50ᵃ bot. במְצַחְצֵחַ when the blood is clear (fluid). Ib.ᵇ top, opp. מקדיר. Ib. אפי׳ מְצַחְצְחִין even when the blood is clear. Deut. R. s. 1 לשונו … ומצַחְצְחָה מיד וכ׳ his tongue is cured and speaks at once clearly in teaching the words of the Law.
