אִסְפַּקְלַרְיָא, אִיסְ׳ f. (specularia) 1) window-pane made of lapis specularis, window-glass. Targ. Y. Ex. XIX, 17; a. e.—Kel. XXX, 2 תמחוי שעשאו א׳ a (glass) plate which is used as window-glass. —2) Metaph. prophetic vision. Succ. 45ᵇ דמסתכלי בא׳ וכ׳ who contemplate (Deity) through a lucid speculum. Gen. R. s. 91 שראה בא׳ שסברו וכ׳ (play on sheber, grain, and seber, hope) he saw in the glass of prophecy that his hope (Joseph) was in Egypt. Lev.
