אֶסְפָּר אֶסְפָּר, (ספר, cmp. אֶסְפּוֹר) Espar, a Hebrew name for Sestertius (cmp. אִיסָר &c.). . Maas. Sh. II, 9 (Ms. M. אצטרי, v. אִיסְתִּירָא, Asheri אצפרי); Eduy. I, 10 (he must exchange the fourth Denar) ארבעה א׳ כסף Ms. M. (ed. ארבע) for four sestertii. [Oth. opinions (v. comment.), ἄσπροι, supposed to be worth one fifth of a Denar. There is, however, no evidence of ἄσπροι being used in this sense in the days of the Mishnah.] ערכים סמוכים
