עָשִׁיק, (עֲשַׁק; cmp. יקר) very dear, expensive, rare. B. Mets. 52ᵃ (prov.) ע׳ לגביך ושוי וכ׳ for thy body (clothes) buy even what is dear, but for thy stomach, what is reasonable. Ib. 74ᵃ ע׳ עפרא Rashi (ed. עֲשַׁק; Ms. M. לא שכיח) earth (for pottery) was scarce. Ber. 56ᵃ, v. רוּמָּנָא.
