עֲקַץ, ch.same, to sting. Targ. Y. Deut. VIII, 15.—Bekh. 31ᵇ מאן דעָקֵיץ לִיעַקְצֵיה וכ׳ (Rashi: מאן דעקץ תְּעַקְצֵיה; Ar. מאן דעֲקַס עֲקַסְתֵּיה) let a scorpion sting him who stings (stung), i.e. he who ignored me deserves to be excommunicated.
