Lev. R. s. 10, beg. למה נקרא שמו עמוס שהיה ע׳ בלשונו he was named Amos, because he was a stammerer; Yalk. Is. 307; (Pesik. Nah., p. 125ᵇ שהיה פסילוס וכ׳).—b) (in a secret letter) officer.
