סָחַט, to press out, wring, cause to flow. Sabb. XXII, 1 אין סוֹחֲטִין וכ׳ you must not press fruits (on the Sabbath) for the sake of the juice. Ib. 144ᵇ היו סוחטין ברימונים they squeezed pomegranates. Y. ib. X, 10ᶜ top הסוֹחֵט והמכבס מלאכה וכ׳ wringing clothes and washing are in the same category of labor. Bets. 3ᵃ שמא יִסְחוֹט lest he may squeeze (fruit); a. fr.—Ḥull. 27ᵃ א"ת ושָׁחַט אלא וסָחַט וכ׳ read not (Lev.
