נִדְנֵד נִדְנֵד (Pilp. of וָדַד) 1) to make restless, shake, weaken. Lev. R. s. 18 (ref. to נֵד, Is. XVII, 11) נִדְנַדְתֶּם עליכם קצירן וכ׳ (or קצירין; Ar. נִדַּדְתֶּם, fr. נָדַד) (through your willing acceptance of the Law) you had made powerless over you the harvest (harvests, destructive forces) of the governments &c.; Yalk. Is. 287 נדית עלי (corr. acc.). —2) (neut. verb) to be rocked. Gen. R. s. 53 לא נִדְנְדָה עריסה וכ׳ never was a cradle rocked before it was rocked in the house of Abraham, i.e. never before was there such a festival at the weaning of a child. ערכים סמוכים
