כְּוֵץ, כְּוֵיץ, כְּוַוץ (cmp. קָוַץ, גָּוַע) to curl, shrink. Sabb. 20ᵇ צמר מִכְוַוץ כָּוֵויץ wool (if used as a wick) curls. Nidd. 3ᵃ מוך … מכוץ כויץ the lint … shrinks (and leaves room for the blood to pass). Succ. 23ᵇ כיון דמייתא כַּוְוצָא when the animal is dead, the body shrinks. Ḥull. 43ᵇ כל שחותכו וכויץ that portion of the gullet which shrinks when you cut it. Ib. 46ᵇ, v. infra.
    Pa. - כַּוֵּוץ to cause to shrink. Sabb. 19ᵃ וכַוְּוצֵיה for he made it shrink (by using too hot water). Ḥull. 46ᵇ; 47ᵇ [read:] בחמימי לא דמְכַוְּוצֵי not in boiling water, for it causes the lungs to shrink (Ar. ed. Koh. בקרירי לא דכווצא not in cold water, for it will contract, v. טְרַשׁ I).
