כְּוֶורֶת, a large round vessel, receptacle of grain, water &c.; כ׳ דבוריםbee-hive. Num. R. s. 1; Tanḥ. B’midb. 2, v. כַּדּוֹרֶת. Shebi. X, 7. Kel. XV, 1 כ׳ הקש וכ׳ הקנים a receptacle made of straw or reeds. Ib. VIII, 1; Tosef. Kel. B. Kam. VI, 3 כ׳ פחותה וכ׳ a defective k’vereth which was repaired with a stuffing of straw. Ib. V, 8 [read:] כָּאוֶרֶת של מתכת וכ׳ (ed. Zuck. ניארת, corr. acc.) a metal k. used in the household. Men. 95ᵃ כמין כ׳ a kind of bee-hive (honeycombed plate in the stove); Tosef. ib. כְּוֶורֶת, the ramifications of the vine, espalier, the widest extent of branches. Tosef. Kil. III, 4; Y. ib. V, 29ᵈ הכ׳ מְכוּוָּן והגוף וכ׳ (sub בֵּית) if the espalier is in a certain direction, but the body of the vine is not in the line. Y. Erub. III, 21ᵃ top בשהיתה כְּוַרְתּוֹ ארבעה when its ramifications had a circumference of four cubits; Y. Succ. II, 52ᵈ bot. ככרתו (corr. acc. or כְּבַרְתּוֹ). Y. Ber. I, 2ᶜ bot., v. נוֹף I; a. e.—Midr.
