טֵירוּף, טֵרוּף m. (טָרַף) 1) (sub. הדעת) confusion, distraction; trouble. Ber. V, 4 (34ᵃ) מפני הטי׳ because he might become confused (and be unable to resume his prayers); Deut. R. s. 7, beg.—Cant. R. to VIII, 13 בט׳ הדעת in confusion (not in concert).—Tanḥ. Mick. 2 נטרף טרוף אחד had only one trouble (about the interpretation of his dream).—Pl. טֵירוּפִין, טֵר׳. Ib. נטרף שני ט׳ had two troubles (not knowing even the dream).—Sifré Deut. 296 (ref. to בדרך, Deut. XXV, 17) בשעת טֵיוּפֵיכֶם when you were in a state of disorder. —2) ejection, banishment (cmp. טֵירוּדִין). Gen. R. s. 15; Midr. Till. to Ps. CXXXIX (omitt. in ed. Bub.); Yalk. ib. 887 טֵירוּפִי מתוכה my banishment from Eden.
