חָמוּר, (חָמַר I) heavy, weighty, important; strict, severe, stringent, restrictive. Kel. I, 4 ח׳ שבכולם וכ׳ the most stringent of all are the laws concerning corpses.—איסור ח׳, v. אִיסּוּר.—Snh. 50ᵃ שריפה ח׳ וכ׳ death by burning is a severer punishment than &c. Ib. IX, 4, a. e. נידון בח׳ he suffers the severer penalty of the two. Ab.
