זִירָה, (זור) circle, esp. wrestlers’ ring. Ex. R. s. 27 (play on זר, Prov. VI, 1) אתה הכנסת עצמך לז׳ וכ׳ thou (by assuming an office) hast placed thyself in the arena &c. Ib. אני ואתה עומדים בז׳ we two stand in the arena (combatting each other).
