הַשָּׁקָה הַשָּׁקָה, (נָשַׁק, Hif.) [causing contact,] dipping of a vessel, filled with an unclean water, so as to make its surface level with the surface of the water into which it is dipped, a ceremony of levitical purification, contrad. to הטבלה, immersion. Bets. 18ᵃ נגזור ה׳ אטו הטבלה let us prohibit levelling as a precaution against immersion (on the Holy Days). Ib.ᵇ קשיא ה׳ the Mishnah permitting hashshakah is contradictory (to what Rabbi said in the Boraitha). Ḥull. 26ᵇ לא סלקא להו ה׳ למיא the hash. will not affect the liquid (in the vessel). ערכים סמוכים
