הֶשֵּׂיאָה, (נָשָׂא, Hif.) = הֶסֵּיעַ, diverting the mind from a question which must not be answered, a Biblical puzzle of interpretation used for diverting the mind.—Pl. הֶשֵּׂיאוֹת. Y. Ab. Zar. II, 41ᶜ bot. (ref. to השיאו, Mish. Ab. Zar. II, 8) he ought to have diverted his mind by means of one מחמש ה׳ בתורה of the five puzzles &c., v. הַכְרָעָה.
