הַסָּתָה, (יָסַת or סוּת) seduction, enticement. Yoma 22ᵇ דאוריה ודה׳ the sin against Uriah and that of counting the people to which he was enticed (II Sam. XXIV, 1). Ḥull. 4ᵇ אין ה׳ בדברים enticing (the verb הסית) never applies to verbal persuasion (but only to sensual influences). Sifré Deut. 87 אין ה׳ אלא טעות enticing means leading astray; אין ה׳ אלא גירוי it means instigation.
