גִּיס II, (גּוּס II) intimate, familiar. Keth. 85ᵇ ואי … דגִ׳ ביה הא גִ׳ ביה (Ar. … דגייס … גָס ביה) but if it is one who is familiar with him (so as to use his name without a title), then, we may say, he spoke of him in a familiar way.—Fem. גָּיְיסָא. Kidd. 81ᵃ ג׳ ביה she was on familiar terms with him.—Pl. גִּיסֵי, גָיְיסֵי. Ib. 33ᵃ דגִי׳ בה רבנן where scholars are a familiar sight (and no attention is paid them). Keth. 28ᵃ גיי׳ בהדדי they are intimate with each other.
