גְּזִיזָא m. (גזז) cut off, whence 1) branch, club. Snh. 7ᵃ אדייה לגְּזִיזֵיה וכ׳ lifted up his club and stood (against me; Rashi: his fist). B. Kam. 5ᵃ תבריה ר"ע לגזיזיה R. Akiba has broken the force of his club (Rashi: fist), i.e. modified his opinion; ib. 42ᵇ —2) piece. ג׳ דברדא a piece of ice. Targ. I Chr.
