*בַּשְׁקַר *בַּשְׁקַר, (Pashel of בקר) to search, discover. Targ. Ps. XLIV, 22 (h. text חקר). Ib. XXVII, 4 ולבשקרה ed. Lag. to find the truth, speculate (ed. ולבקרא, h. text ולבַקֵר).—Yeb. 120ᵃ he passed before them with a plaster on his face ולא בשקרוה and they (the officers) did not discover it (the disguise; for Var. v. Ar. ed. Koh. s. vv. בליתא a. בשקר). Erub. 19ᵃ ולא מְבַשְׁקַר ליה and he (Abraham) does not discover the disguise; Ar. (taking מב׳ as part. pass.) and he (in his disguise) is not discovered (as a Jew). *Bekh. 36ᵇ חזייה בשקריה he saw him, and discovered his fraud, v. Tosaf.; (ed. a.
