בִּימוּס, (an adaptation of βωμός, treated in inflection as a cacophemism = בי מיאוס, v. Tosef. Ab. Zar. V, 6, quot. bel., cmp. איצטריא; Syr. בומסא, Ch. בַּמְסָא, בִּימְסָא, בָּמוֹסָא) pedestal of idolatrous statuary. Ab. Zar. III, 7 a stone originally hewn לב׳ for an idol’s pedestal. Tosef. ib.
