*אָלִיס, only in pl. אֲלִיסִים, אֲלִיסִין &c. (אלס, cmp. אלץ in Hebr. Dict. a. רסס, רצץ) ruins, debris. Lev. R. s. 19 (referring to Amos VI, 11) הדין רסיסה אית מיניה אל׳ (read רסיסא) of what is demolished by making breaches, there remain ruins, והדין בקיעא לית מיניה אי while of what is demolished by chopping, no ruins remain; Koh. R. to X, 18 (corr. acc.); Cant. R. to IV, 14. Cmp. בִּיזָא and אִלְסִיס.
