אָכְלָה II, (אָכֵל 2) occupied space. Kil. II, 10 Y. ed. אָכְלַת הגפן (Mish. ed. אֲכִילַת; Y. Ib. 28ᵃ אוֹכְלַת) the soil occupied by the vine roots, א׳ הקבר the ground needed for the formation of the cave, i.e. as far as the roots &c. extend.
