רתי, רָתָה (cmp. רָתַת) [to tremble,] to be lax, lenient (cmp. רָפָה).
    Pi. - רִיתָּה to be indulgent, compassionate, lenient. Gen. R. s. 19 (ref. to לרוח היום, Gen. III, 8) ר׳ עליו כל שהיום וכ׳ the Lord was lenient to him, for the farther the day sinks, the cooler it grows, opp. הקשה; Yalk. ib. 27 ריתח (corr. acc.). Sifra Sh’mini, Par. 1, ch. I אלא שר׳ המקום על וכ׳ Rabad, a. Ar. (ed. שריחם) but the Lord had pity on Aaron.—V. רִתּוּי.
