פְּתִיתָה, (preced.) breaking in pieces. Sifra Vayikra, N’dab., Par. 10, ch. XII וכל פ׳ בכזתים, v. preced. Men. VI, 4 טעונית פ׳ require to be broken in pieces; אין בהם פ׳ no breaking in pieces is applied to them; Sifra l. c.; a. e.—B. Kam. 19ᵇ bot. בבהמה ופ׳ Ar. s. v. פת (ed. ובפתורא) it means a domestic animal when it ate pieces in a broth.—Pl. פְּתִיתוֹת the function of the breaking in pieces of the meal-offering.
