נַשְׁתֵּק, (נָשַׁק, cmp. אינשתם, fr. נְשַׁם) attachment, a contrivance to prevent the handle of a coal-pan from getting too hot. Tosef. Yoma III (II), 3 בכל יום לא היה לה נ׳ on any other day the priest’s coal-pan had no damper &c.; Yoma 44ᵇ נִיאַשְׁתֵּיק (Ms. M. נִיאוּשְׁ׳; Rashi: ‘a rattling ring’); Y. ib. IV, 41ᵈ top נרתיק. Koh. R. to I, 5 [read:] מערטלו מִנַּשְׁתֵּקוֹ or מִנַּרְתֵּקוֹ (v. השתק).
