תִּיכוֹנָה, inner, central, middle. Y. Ber. I, 2ᵈ; Lam. R. to II, 19. Ber. 3ᵇ (ref. to Jud. VII, 19) אין ת׳ אלא שיש וכ׳ you cannot say middle watch, unless there is one before and one after (which proves that the night is divided into three watches); Yalk. Jud. 63.—Pl. תִּיכוֹנוֹת. Ib. מאי תיכונה תיכונה שבת׳ tikhonah means here the middle of the middle watches, i.e. the end of the second and the beginning of the third of the four watches; v. תִּוֵּוךְ; Ber. l. c. אחת מן התיכונה שבת׳ (corr. acc.).
