שָׁרִיר, (שָׁרַר) [tied; cmp. כָּשֵׁר,] strong, fast, reliable, fit, proper. Targ. Y. II, Deut. XXXIII, 29 (not שריד; h. text אשר!). Targ. Prov. XIX, 7 (h. text המה!).—Sabb. 145ᵇ לא ש׳ שדריה its spinal column is not strong enough. Pes. 74ᵇ בחיורתא דש׳ in the case of dough of white flour, which is bound (compact).—Esp. in the closing formula of a document: ש׳ וקים fit and established. B. Bath. 160ᵇ; Y. Gitt. IX, 50ᶜ bot. קיים ש׳ וברור established, fit, and sound.—Pl. שְׁרִירַיָּיא; f. שְׁרִירָן. Targ. II Chr. V, 10 ש׳ (not שריד׳) the sound tables (opp. כד אתברו the broken). Targ. Y. I Deut. VIII, 9 גזרן ש׳ Ar. (ed. בריר׳).
