שַׁפְשָׁף, (v. שׁוּף II) paste, a small board on the hunter’s rod smeared over with glue. Sabb. VIII, 4 (78ᵇ) דבק כדי ליתן בראש הש׳ Bab. ed. (Mish. a. Y. ed. השַׁבְשֶׁבֶת); expl. ib. 80ᵃ כדי ליתן בראש ש׳ שבראש קנה וכ׳ (Ms. M. a. O. שבשבת; Alf. Ms. שַׁפְשֶׁפֶת; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 3) as much glue as is required to put on the top of the ‘paste board’ which is on the fowlers’ reed.
