שָׂפָה, lip; speech. Y. Sabb. VII, 10ᶜ top המאדם אודם בש׳ he who reddens his lips (v. אָדַם; Naḥmanides reads: בטפה). Ib. XIV, 14ᵈ top כל שהוא מן הש׳ ולפנים any wound on the lip and further inside (in the mouth, opp. חָלָל III). Y. Macc. II, end, 32ᵃ, a. fr. בש׳ רפה with lax lips, with low indistinct speech; a. fr.—Pl. שְׂפָתוֹת, שְׂפָיוֹת (סְפָי); Du.שְׂפָתַיִם. Tosef. Kel. B. Kam. VI, 15 שְׂפָתָיו, v. שָׁפַע. M.
