רוּבָּה II, (רְבַב) gradation, conclusion a minori ad majus (= קַל וָחוֹמֶר). Y. Peah IV, 18ᵇ top ר׳ דר׳ יוחנן ור׳ דר"ל there exists one argument a minori by R. J. and another by R. S. ben L.; ר׳ … מה מציאה וכ׳ R. J.’s argument is: if in the case of a find &c. (v. corr. vers in Frankel, Talm. Hierosol.).—ר׳, דר׳ (cmp. חוֹמֶר I) something greater, more restrictive. Y. Sabb. XVII, beg. 16ᵃ דלתות הבית דר׳ ודלתות הכלים דר׳ וכ׳ (not דרובן) in one respect there is a greater restriction in the law concerning the moving of the doors of a house, and in another respect a greater restriction in the law concerning the doors of furniture; דלתות … דר׳ וכ׳ the greater restriction concerning the doors of a house consists in this that they dare not be moved even &c. Y. Ab. Zar. I, 40ᵃ top ר׳ דר"ש ב"ל מדרבי וכ׳ the opinion of R. S. b. L. goes farther in restriction than that of R. J. Y. Maasr. I, 49ᵃ bot. דר׳ אתא אימור לך he comes to tell you something greater.—Y. Meg. I, 71ᶜ top דרַבָּה שהספרים וכ׳ here is something greater (than the difference between scrolls and T’fillin which has been stated): scrolls may be written on either side of the parchment &c.; דף אחד בשני עורות לית היא דר׳ the ‘one column’ law against the ‘two sides’ law—this is no gradation. Y. Peah I, 15ᵈ top והוא דרבה מִנָּהּ גדול … כפריעת חוב וכ׳ (not בפריעת) here is something greater (just the reverse, v. אַדְּרַבָּא); greater is a duty which is like paying a debt (the filial duty) than &c.; Y. Kidd. I, 61ᵇ bot. וההיא דרבנין (corr. acc.).
