קִילְקוּל קִילְקוּל, קִלְ׳ m. (קִלְקֵל) 1) deterioration, disorder.—Pl. קִילְקוּלִים, קִילְקוּלִין, קִלְ׳. M. Kat. I, 2 (2ᵃ) ומתקנין את קִילְקוּלֵי המים וכ׳ and you may cure the spoiled waters (clean the pools) during the festive week. —2) disarrangement. Y. Taan. IV, 68ᶜ ק׳ חשבונות יש כאן there is a disarrangement of dates here (a new era was started with the destruction of the Temple), v. קִלְקֵל. Y. Ned. VI, end, 40ᵃ; Y. Snh. I, 19ᵃ top הן דלא … בק׳ where he (R. Judah) did not get (to announce the decision of the Palestinian court on the intercalation), they were guided by the disarrangement (the calendar established by Hananiah). —3) moral corruption, degeneracy. Ab. Zar. 64ᵃ שמא יחזור לקִלְקוּלוֹ lest he (the proselyte) may go back to his corruption (idolatry); (Kidd. 17ᵇ לסורו, v. סוֹר). Num. R. s. 9 תחלת קלקולו בעזה וכ׳ the beginning of his degeneration took place at Gaza, therefore he was punished at Gaza; Tosef. Sot. III, 15; Mekh. B’shall, Shir., s. 2 קִלְקָלוֹ; Tanḥ.
