פָּלַם, to be round, smooth (cmp. Arab. tafailam pinguis fuit); only in part. Pu. מְפוּלָּם smooth, viscous.—Pl. מְפוּלָּמִין, מְפוּלָּמוֹת. Bets. 24ᵇ דגים המפ׳ moist fish (fresh-caught). Zeb. 54ᵃ אבנים מפ׳ smooth stones (fresh from the ground). Ḥag. 12ᵃ (expl. בהו Gen. I, 2) אלו אבנים המפ׳ וכ׳ that means the smooth (chaotic) stones which are sunk in the deep &c. (with ref. to אבני בהו, Is. XXXIV, 11); Yalk. Gen. 4.—Targ. Job XXVIII, 3 אבנין מפולמין וכ׳ (Ms. ed. Wil. מְפוּלָּמָן) smooth (chaotic) stones out of which darkness proceeds (h. text אבן אפל).
