פִּיוְולָא, (fibula = pallium fibulatum, cmp. περόνημα a. πόρπαμα) clasp; a cloak fastened with clasps or buckles. Tanḥ., ed. Bub., Noah 21 נתן … טלית לשם וליפת פ׳ the Lord rewarded them, giving Shem the ṭallith (v. טַלִּית), and Japhet the pallium fibulatum; Gen. R. s. 36 ויפת לפִוְולָא and Japheth was granted the pallium; Yalk. ib. 61 לפלוניא (corrupt. of לפִיבוּלָא; some ed. פלמניא, corr. acc.).—Y. Ab. Zar. I, 39ᶜ bot. היה הופך עיכליה דימינא וכ׳ (Matt. K. to Lam. R. to IV, 2 פִּיבְלֵיה) he changed the buckle from his right to his left shoulder; Y. Dem. IV, 24ᵃ bot. פילכיה דשמלא לימנא (read: פיבליה; Lam. R. l. c. יד אונקלי).
